Will you cross a new frontier of self expression with us?
The Rhythm of our Stories is a unique breakthrough for writers, artists, performers and poets to practice creative freedom.
Going into a writing workshop is a lot like scuba diving. It feels uncomfortable. Scary. The instructions feel puzzling. Memories of shame and failure come up like nausea. Why did we sign up for this?
Then we notice the coral reefs emerge like smiles. The fish of our emotions brushing against the rocks of our words. The light sparkling in curves on and in the water. Everything is aglow.
The deeper we dive, the more we find. Metaphors bloom like sea anemones. Stories appear like turtles, with wisdom on their back. And just as divers trust their equipment and the water, writers learn to trust our body, our voice, our eyes. The buoyancy of language itself.
We need these deep dives into our own pysche, our own wisdom, our own poetry (whether we call ourselves poets or not). And we don’t need to do it alone.
We want the permission to be silly and courageous. We desire to write from our subconscious. We need kind friends to feel the rhythm of our lives.
Experimenting with new forms of writing at The Rhythm of our Stories
The Rhythm of our Stories is a unique offering for writers to practice creative freedom. Our writing gets enriched when we try out different genres, voices, languages, and forms of writing.
When we chance upon a new form of expression, a surge of creative energy passes through us and emboldens us to shape our work in unique ways.
We will write poems and stories from our lives, using the sounds and visuals from our surroundings, and embody this writing through our voice and performance. We will tell our stories in our most playful, wise, authentic voices.

Read more here.Rhythm of stories workshop sessions were like breathing into the poetry of our bodies and finding its dancing rhythms that were left long ago, to prepare for a scripted, worldly life. The sessions, the prompts, the kindness of each other and the gentle waah wahs, bahut khubs, hearts and claps feel like creating an alternate universe on those 3 hours over 2 weekends and genuinely add much needed rhythmic drama in performing our lives. The rhythm of stories create hope, make creativity happen through our bodies, and install faith in our struggles and uniquenesses. You will find me back again soon. - Gurpreet
